Adoration
"The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven, and will help bring about everlasting peace on earth.”( Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
The second Wednesday of every month the High School youth have the opportunity to spend one hour in quiet adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. There are many youth in the parish that choose to do this to help strengthen their relationship with Jesus. During the time of adoration a priest is available to hear confessions.
According to Peter Kreft, a philosopher at Boston College, "Adoration will heal our Church and thus our nation and thus our world... Adoration touches everyone and everything... [because it touches the Creator, Who touches everything and everyone]... When we adore, we plug into infinite dynamism and power. Adoration is more powerful for construction than nuclear bombs are for destruction.”
The youth of our parish find this time to spend in front of the Eucharist as a vital part of their life. They truly believe that Eucharistic Adoration brings change with in themselves and within people that they have been praying for.
At the start of the school year in 2006 a group called Team Jesus formed and the central focus of this was Adoration. Team Jesus is still a vital part of the Youth Ministry of Our Lady of Lourdes. Since this Eucharistic Adoration was added to the High School Youth Ministry Our Lady of Lourdes Parish has had three seminarians studying for Catholic Priesthood.
